Who has never seen Winnie the Pooh when they were kids? Well, I've never really... But I know the characters!
Winnie the Pooh, or Pooh for short, this friendly and adorable toy bear.
Christopher Robin, the sole human character in the story books, best friend of Piglet and Pooh.
And then there are Piglet, who is gentle, kind, and quite shy; Eeyore (maybe my favourite) the always-pessimistic donkey, Tigger the happy exhuberant, always bouncing around and often creating chaos.
The plot
A working-class family man, Christopher Robin, encounters his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh, who helps him to rediscover the joys of life.
It's often believed that the children's book character is based on a teddy bear that the author, A.A. Milne, gave to his son Christopher Robin Milne. But this is only partially true.
In fact, Christopher Robin named his stuffed bear after a real bear named Winnipeg, or Winnie for short. The bear's name came from Lieutenant Harry Coleburn's home town in Manitoba, Canada. Coleburn bought Winnie for $20 after a hunter shot the cub's mother, and Winnie quickly became the unofficial mascot of the young soldier's regiment. When Coleburn shipped out to England to fight in World War I, he hid Winnie on board.
While Coleburn and his regiment were fighting in France, Winnie stayed safe in the London Zoo, which is where she met Christopher Robin for the first time. A.A. Milne used to take Christopher Robin to the zoo, and Winnie was one of the boy's favorite animals. Here's a famous photo of the two:
Such a long way since the hunt, the war, the zoo, the toy bear, the books, and the movie! Winnie the pooh is so adorable you cannot not love him. In the trailer Pooh looks really realistic and reminds us the work that have been done on Paddington, except Pooh has this toy look of course. So cute, we cannot wait to see it, and discover this new adventure!
