Kubo et l'armure magique, long métrage d'animation de Travis Knight, produit par Laika, pour Focus Features. Travis Knight débute avec ce film sa carrière de réalisateur (il a travaillé en tant que lead animateur sur Coraline et ParaNorman notamment).

L'histoire :
Dans un village littoral du Japon médiéval, Kubo est un jeune garçon vif et généreux qui s'occupe de sa mère. Il gagne suffisamment de quoi mener une vie modeste en racontant des histoires aux autres villageois, dont Hosato, Akihiro et Kameyo. Mais cette existence relativement calme se trouve bouleversée lorsqu'il invoque malencontreusement un esprit de son passé, qui descend des cieux pour se venger d'une vendetta séculaire. Cela va générer un chaos extraordinaire : dieux et monstres se lancent à la poursuite de Kubo qui, pour survivre, doit retrouver une armure magique jadis portée par feu son père, un samouraï légendaire. Armé de son seul shamisen magique, il s'allie avec Monkey et Beetle.
The plot :
The story is set in ancient Japan, where a young boy named Kubo cares for his sick mother in a village. A spirit from the past turns Kubo's life upside down by re-igniting an age-old vendetta. This causes all sorts of havoc as gods and monsters chase Kubo who, in order to survive, must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior.

En décembre 2014, Laika et Focus Features ont annoncé le début de la production de ce film d'animation en stop-motion/3D. Il a donc fallu environ un an et demi de travail acharné pour donner vie à ces marionnettes, et cet univers complètement magique et mystérieux. In December 2014, Laika and Focus Features announced the beginning of the production of this animated stop-motion / 3D film. So it took about one year and half of hard work to bring these puppets to life, and this completely magical and mysterious universe.
