MOVIES SEEN IN APRIL 2018

  • A QUIET PLACE 💗💗💗
Best 2018 movie so far. Extremely well directed. First movie of John Krasinski, A quiet place is intense, full of suspens, action, emotion... It is freaking thrilling, and it is the MUST-SEE of this year. The actors are really good; and you will surely cry, and scream, and stop breathing sometimes. Even the visual effects are pretty well done.
One of my favourite!
→ You will like it if you like horror movies, thrillers, suspens.

The plot:
A family is forced to live in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound.

  • JUMANJI : WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
Just entertainning, but I was not expecting much when I went to see it either. Missing the good old Jumanji board game! The original spirit is not here, and that is too bad.
→ You may like it if you're not a huge fan of the first Jumanji, if you're looking for a light comedy. Plus: Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson and Nick Jonas!

The plot:
Four teenagers are sucked into a magical video game, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the game.

  • KRAMPUS 💗
I already saw this movie before but I really liked it and wanted to watch it again. It is like a Christmas tale but really twisted and scary. Kind of funny and terrifying at the same time.
→ You will like it if you like horror movies, scary stories, fantastic themes.

The plot:
A boy who has a bad Christmas ends up accidentally summoning a festive demon to his family home.

  • GODS OF EGYPT
Not so sure why I watched this movie, and I kinda almost regret it. Not worth seeing. Really bad visual effects, not so good story; and even with some famous actors, it is not enough.
→ If you have nothing else to see, or if you're really fond of everything that has to do with Egyptian mythology.

The plot:
Mortal hero Bek teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt's throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

  • TRUTH OR DARE
I thought it was going to be a bit cheesy as a lot of teenage horror movie, but I was surprised in a good way. Indeed the main characters were all teenagers but the story was actually a bit different and interesting, and pretty scary moments.
→ You will like it if you like horror movies, with teenagers.

The plot:
A harmless game of Truth or Dare among friends turns deadly when someone -- or something -- begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.

  • THE FOREIGNER
I wanted to see it so much! Because I love Jackie Chan and that it has been a while we haven't seen him in a movie. And for once it is not a comedy nor a martial art movie. It is in a very different kind that we find Jackie, playing a really touching old man, who just lost his daughter in a tragic event.
→ You will like it if you like action movies, fights, Jackie Chan :p

The plot:
A humble businessman with a buried past seeks justice when his daughter is killed in an act of terrorism. A cat-and-mouse conflict ensues with a government official, whose past may hold clues to the killers' identities.

  • MOTHER! 💗💗
I really liked it. But not so sure what to think about it. I don't know if I have been traumatized or if I think it is pure genius. The movie makes you feel really incomfortable, and trying to understand what the hell is happening during the whole story. You will feel stress, injustice, tension, intensity, sadness... It is a great movie for sure. But I think I won't watch it again until a certain time! It really stays in your head. I was not expecting less from Daren Arronofsky!
→ You will like it because it is not like anything you've seen before. Because it has an enourmous and powerful message that you really don't expect in the first place. And it is geniously directed.

The plot:
A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

  • LEATHER FACE
A sort of new version of the texas chainsaw massacre. But kind of from another point of view where we see how he became this monster.
→ You will like it if you like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but not so much going on in this movie though.

The plot:
A teenage Leatherface escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnapping a young nurse and taking her on a road trip from hell, while being pursued by a lawman out for revenge.

  • THE DANISH GIRL
So much acclaimed by the critics and at the Oscar Ceremony, I had to see it too. Loving Eddie Redmayne, especially since The Theory of Everything, I already knew the cast was going to be interesting. A really rich story, intense characters, a lot of compassion, and emotions, until the end.
→ You will like it if you like drama movies, life stories, complexe characters.

The plot:
A fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda's marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.

  • 7 SISTERS
The trailer was showing a super intersting story, and I was impatient to see it. Critics said that you would never see the ending coming. How come?! So yeah it was a cool story, I liked it, as it was not like other stories. And indeed there was a twist at the end, that wasn't too obvious.
→ You will like it if you like mysterious stories, futuristic stories, and twisted ending.

The plot:
In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own.

  • MONEY HEIST PART 1
Haven't seen a lot of episodes yet (like 3 or something), but it is cool so far! I usually not a big fan of Spanish directing, but this TV show has nothing to envy to any other TV show of this kind (action, robbery). Waiting to see the next episodes!
→ You will like it if you like robbery stories, with thieves etc.

The plot:
A group of very peculiar robbers assault the Factory of Moneda and Timbre to carry out the most perfect robbery in the history of Spain and take home 2,400 million euros.

  • 1922
A story from a Stephen King novel, the trailer is pretty mysterious and I was not sure what it will be about. I have to say I was not expecting that. I was waiting for a more frightening and fantastic story. So I was kind of disapointed. But film wise, it is not a bad one, and the characters personnalities are pretty deep.
→ You will like it if you like Stephen King stories, but don't expect anything fantastic though.

The plot:
A simple yet proud farmer in the year 1922 conspires to murder his wife for financial gain, convincing his teenage son to participate.

  • FIRST KILL
A bit thriller a bit action, but not too much of either. Happy to see Hayden Christensen, and Bruce Willis. It is a nice one if you don't really know what to watch tonight on Netflix.
→ You will like it if you like light action movie

The plot:
A Wall Street broker is forced to evade a police chief investigating a bank robbery as he attempts to recover the stolen money in exchange for his son's life.
