A la base, Lights Out c'est un court métrage, réalisé par David F. Sandberg. Il signe ici son premier long métrage, après avoir réalisé de nombreux autres courts métrages d'horreur / épouvante, que vous pouvez voir sur sa chaîne Vimeo ICI. Ses courts métrages sont toujours simples, mais très efficaces, et c'est ce qui a fait le succès de son court métrage Lights Out, qui a attiré l'attention d'Hollywood et notamment du producteur James Wan, qui n'est autre que le réalisateur de Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious 1 et 2, ainsi que les 2 Conjuring.
James Wan produira également Anabelle 2, dont les commandes de la réalisation seront confiées à... David F. Sandberg ! Que du beau monde donc, nous seront entre de bonnes mains pour sursauter et crier à loisir.

Ou, comment passer de "Je mets en scène l'histoire que j'ai dans la tête", à "Je dois réussir à faire passer l'idée que j'ai dans la tête, à toute une équipe de tournage, pour qu'on puisse réaliser les images que j'imagine, tous ensemble".

MON AVIS
Bref, je suis allée voir Lights Out au cinéma, et j'ai aimé, car j'aime les films d'épouvante, et je l'attendais avec pas mal d'impatience. Niveau frayeur, je ne l'ai pas trouvé aussi terrifiant que Conjuring 2 par exemple, qui reste quand même pour moi un des films d'épouvante récents qui marche le mieux.
Alors oui il y a des moments où l'on sursaute, la musique, la mise en scène, sont réussis. L'entité elle-même est terrifiante ! La majorité du temps on ne voit pas son visage clairement (vu qu'elle n'apparaît que dans le noir), et ça, ça fait peur. Qui n'a jamais eu peur du noir ? Et c'est bien connu, l'inconnu fait peur. Alors prenez un truc démoniaque qui n'apparait que dans le noir, en silhouette, juste avec des yeux malveillants qui brillent dans le noir ? Brrrr.
Le seul bémol que je soulèverai, c'est que je n'ai pas trouvé qu'il y avait assez de tension tout au long du film. Pas assez de suspense ni de montée en pression. Mais bon, pour un premier film, David F. Sandberg s'en sort vraiment pas mal, il y a des passages assez flippants dans le film.
MY OPINION
So, I went to see Lights Out at the theatre, and I liked it, because I do lke horror movies, and I was lookin forward for this one. Frightly speaking, I did not find it as terrifying as Conjuring 2 for instance, which still remains for me one of the (recent) horror movie that works best.
So yes, there are moments when we jump out of our seats; the music, the direction, are successful. The demonic entity itself is very terrifying ! Most of the time we do not see its face clearly (since it only appears in the dark), and that, is scary. Who has never been afraid of the dark ? And it is well known, the unknown is frightening? So, take a demonic this that only appears in the dark, in silhouette, just with malicious eyes that glow in the dark ? Brrrr.
The only flaw I would say about this movie, is that I have not found that there was enough tension throughout the film. Not enough suspense or pressure rise. Still, for a first movie, David F. Sandberg is doing a pretty good job here !
