Disney nous offre cette année une nouvelle version du Livre de la Jungle, toujours d'après l'histoire du livre de Rudyard Kipling, sortie en 1967. C'est une très bonne remise à jour de ce classique, de la part du réalisateur Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 et 2 entre autres).
Favreau a grandi avec le dessin animé de Disney et voulait préserver tout ce qui a fait son succès; les personnages, la musique, l'émotion. Côté scénario pas de surprise, c'est la même histoire; avec moins de chansons que dans le dessin animé.
Le vrai enjeu et la vraie difficulté de cette réalisation était de faire parler des animaux et de marier un acteur réel avec des animations et des décors en 3D. C'est ici une grande prouesse que les équipes de tournage et les studios de post-production ont réalisé.
Disney offers us this year a new version of The Jungle Book, according to the story of Rudyard Kipling's book published in 1967. This is a very good remake of this classic, directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 and 2).
Favreau has grown up with the Disney cartoon and wanted to preserve what has made it successful; the characters, the music, the emotion. No surprise with the scenario, which is the same story as we all know; with less songs than in the cartoon.
The real challenge and the real difficulty of this achievement was to create talking animals and nicely mix a live action actor with CG animations and scenery. This is a great success that the film crew and post production studios realized.
Il n'y a qu'un seul réel acteur (Neel Sethi), tourné sur fond bleu, 2 ou 3 faux rochers et plantes, et TOUT le reste fait en CG (images de synthèse). Sur le tournage, il y avait pleins de techniciens avec des repères visuels pour guider l'acteur et l'aider à jouer les interactions avec les "faux" animaux. Les animaux d'ailleurs, qui n'ont commencé à être designé qu'après que les acteurs qui doublent leur voix n'aient été choisis; afin de capturer et de retranscrire au mieux l'essence même des acteurs dans les animaux. Puis les artistes de la post production se sont chargé de rendre le tout réel aux yeux des spectateurs.
There is only one real actor (Neel Sethi), shot on a blue screen, with 2 or 3 fake rocks and plants, and ALL the rest done in CG. On the set, there were a lot of technicians with visual targets to guide and help the actor to play interactions with the "fake" animals. The animals, which have been designed only after the actors who double their voices have been chosen; to capture and transcribe at best the essence of the actors into the animals. Then the post production artists made everything real for the audience.

Je pense que c'est un film que l'on va voir pour retrouver Mowgli, Baloo et le reste des personnages attachants de notre enfance ! Mais aussi avant tout pour la prouesse technique du film. Les effets visuels sont hyper réalistes, même pour les animaux parlants, qui ne choquent pas du tout.
Ce film est visuellement MAGNIFIQUE. Allez le voir !
I think it is a movie you go see to see Mowgli, Baloo and all the other characters of your childhood again ! But above all, for the technical prowess of that film. The visual effects are hyper realistic, even for talking animals, that does not shock at all.
This movie is visually BEAUTIFUL. Go see it !
